On Friday, February 1st, we held the 2nd Annual WFC Morris County Spelling Bee at Washington Ave School in Chatham. We had a total of 23 participants from grades 1-5 competing. For 2 hours, spellers battled it out until we had a champion for each grade level! For any word given, spellers had the option of asking for it in a sentence, or taking a minute to write it down before spelling. It was great to see the confidence, poise, and stage presence of all the students participating!
Our winners are:
1st Grade: Lucas Zhou from Southern Blvd. School
2nd Grade: Matthew DiMarco from Milton Ave. School
3rd Grade: Ruthie McGrath from Southern Blvd. School
4th/5th Grade: Joana Jayanth from Lafayette Ave. School. **Repeat champion – she won last year in 3rd grade!**
