The Work-Family Connection

For Immediate Release:

Chatham Mayor Nelson Vaughn visited The Work-Family Connection After School Enrichment Program at Chatham's Milton Avenue School on October 22, 2009. His visit was part of The Work-Family Connection program events that marked the Nationally recognized 10th Annual "Lights On Afterschool" Celebration. Lights On Afterschool was celebrated this year at more than 7,500 sites and military bases across the country.

Mayor Vaughn was once a student at the Milton Avenue and he shared his experiences and the history of the Milton School with the children. The children gave him copies of three historical pictures of the Milton Avenue School dating back to 1962. The pictures were obtained from the Chatham Historical Society.
The school age children told the Chatham Borough Mayor about the fun things that they do in their Afterschool Enrichment program after hearing what the Mayor did when he was a child. Mayor Vaughn told the children that he did not attend an after school program, and then he explained the differences that existed during his childhood in Chatham. As a follow-up, the children will be writing a book dedicated to the Mayor about his visit with them.
The Work-Family Connection is a not-for-profit educational organization, founded by Chief Executive Director Aurora Pipeling in 1989.  This year WFC is celebrating its 22nd year of providing quality school-age programs on-site in New Jersey schools.
