The Work-Family Connection Grows to Add High Bridge, Lebanon and Millington Programs For Kids.

At the request of the Boards of Education in these districts, The Work-Family Connection is expanding to include Before and Afterschool Programs for students in the High Bridge, Lebanon Boro and Millington Schools.

Founded in Hunterdon County in April 1989, this not-for-profit educational organization has been operating before and after school programs, vacation/holiday programs, kindergarten extended-day programs, and summer camps. The programs currently operate in Hunterdon, Morris, Essex and Union Counties, serving approximately 3000 school-age children.  New programs are being added each year.

Aurora Pipeling, Executive Director and Founder of The Work-Family Connection, recognized a need 22 years ago when parents began asking what it would take to develop high-quality programs in their children’s schools.  Consequently, The Work-Family Connection was formed as a grass roots response to these emerging needs. At no cost to a school district, The Work-Family Connection sets up the programs, purchases supplies, hires and trains staff, receives and collects tuition, performs all administrative functions and manages all day-to-day operations.   Ms. Pipeling, tells us:  “The demand for programs is overwhelming and growing everyday.  Evidence to this need is that The Work-Family Connection has grown through word of mouth alone, expanding from one single school to soon to be 30 programs, and is still growing thanks to enrichment such as Homework Club, Spanish Club, Drama Club, Fashion Shows, Martin Luther King Jr. Service Day, Book Club, Sports Club, Field Trips, and Summer Camps offering the highest standards of excellence.”

“Parents expect enrichment programs, homework tutoring, computers, science, and sports in a well-supervised environment, preferably in school buildings.  The Work-Family Connection’s philosophy is to provide a structured yet relaxed atmosphere and to also promote and teach essential life skills such as decision making, conflict resolution, negotiation, socialization, problem solving, and good self-esteem.” Says Aurora, describing the balance of activities these programs offer.

Over the years, The Work-Family Connection has developed its own state of the art registration and tracking software, to enable parents to easily and safely register their children online for all of the enrichment programs.   The organization is recognized nationally as a leader in the field of After School Programs, and Ms. Pipeling is a trained endorser for the NAA (National Afterschool Association), visiting other after school programs across the country, accrediting in accordance with the 36 Quality Standards of After School Programs.   For more information on The Work-Family Connection visit www.workfamily.org or call (908) 534-5935 xt10.
