DOMALENA’S SALON HOSTS “CUT-A-THON” BENEFIT  FOR THE WORK-FAMILY CONNECTION’S PROGRAMS FOR KIDS

On January 17th &18th, you can bring your child to DomAlena’s Hair Salon on Main Street in Flemington for a hair cut, and all proceeds will be donated to The Work-Family Connection’s Programs in Hunterdon County.

The “Cut-A-Thon” will apply to Walk-ins and Advance Appointments made with Angelo (for boy’s haircuts) or with Sandra (for girls).  The hair cut will cost only $10, and must be paid in cash.  Mention WFC or The Work-Family Connection when booking your appointment.

The idea for the Cut-A-Thon, and this partnership to support The Work-Family Connection’s  programs for kids was suggested by DomAlena’s owner Angelo during a conversation with Venetia Weeks from The Work-Family Connection, at a meeting at the Hunterdon County Chamber of Commerce at the Red Mill in Clinton.  Angelo and his wife Sandra expressed their sincere desire to support community organizations, especially those that work with Hunterdon’s youth.

In addition to the Cut-A-Thon, Sandra from DomAlena’s will be offering a Cosmetology Club after school for student’s attending The Work-Family Connection’s program in Clinton Township at the Round Valley School.  This 4 week club will focus on skin cair, hair care, color, cut, and some light makeup application techniques.

The Work-Family Connection, is a not-for-profit educational organization founded in April 1989, that has been operating before and after school programs, vacation/holiday programs, kindergarten extended-day programs, and summer camps. The programs currently operate in Essex, Hunterdon, Morris, and Union Counties, serving approximately 3500 school age children.

Aurora Pipeling, Executive Director and Founder of The Work-Family Connection, tells us:  “The demand for high-quality programs is overwhelming and growing everyday.  Evidence to this need is that The Work-Family Connection has grown through word of mouth alone, expanding from one single school to more than 30 programs, and is still growing thanks to enrichment such as DomAlena’s Cosmetology Club, as well as our existing Homework Club, Spanish Club, Drama Club, Fashion Shows, Martin Luther King Jr. Service Day, Cooking Club, Sports Club, Field Trips, and Summer Camps offering the highest standards of excellence.”

“As a not-for-profit, community and corporate support are vital for the sustainability of these programs for our children.  We are very grateful to DomAlena’s for partnering with us in these innovative ways.”  To schedule your appointment for the Cut-A-Thon, call (908) 788-2811.  For more information on The Work-Family Connection, visit www.workfamily.org.
