The Work-Family Connection celebrates MLK day with NJ Peace Action

Members from the NJ Peace Action, part of the national Peace Action network, will be  visiting students at The Work-Family Connection’s Milton Avenue School in Chatham on Martin Luther King Day. Founded in 1957, Peace Action is the nation's largest grass roots organization. The Bloomfield Chapter will be visiting The Work-Family Connection’s students to honor and remember the peaceful teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King.

The visit will include a guitarist/musician who will sing and teach songs about friendship and peace to the children, and a reader who will share age appropriate picture books about the life of Dr. Martin Luther King. In addition, a hands-on experiential lesson focusing on acceptance and diversity will be presented to the children.

The Work-Family Connection is a not-for-profit educational organization founded in April 1989 that operates before and after school programs, vacation/holiday programs, kindergarten extended-day programs, and summer camps. The programs currently operate in Essex, Hunterdon, Morris, and Union Counties, serving approximately 3500 school age children.

Aurora Pipeling, Executive Director and Founder of The Work-Family Connection, tells us:  “The demand for high-quality programs is overwhelming and growing everyday.  Evidence to this need is that The Work-Family Connection has grown through word of mouth alone, expanding from one single school to more than 30 programs, and is still growing thanks to enrichment such as the MLK Day program with NJ Peace Action, as well as our Homework Club, Spanish Club, Drama Club, Fashion Shows, Community Service Day, Cooking Club, Sports Club, Field Trips, and Summer Camps all offering the highest standards of excellence while the children are having FUN.”  For more information visit www.workfamily.org.
