The Work-Family Connection to Hold Lights On Afterschool Rally

8,000 Rallies Held Nationwide, Aim to Make Afterschool Programs Available to All

The Work-Family Connection afterschool programs will sponsor a Lights On Afterschool rally on October 26, 2017 at each of our programs! The rally will be one of more than an expected 8,000 such events across America as part of Lights On Afterschool, the annual nationwide celebration of afterschool programs organized by the Afterschool Alliance.

Our goal is to support the expanding afterschool opportunities in our community so that every child who needs a program has access to one, and discuss the benefits of afterschool programs, including inspiring children to learn, keeping them safe in the hours when juvenile crime peaks, and providing relief to working families.

Former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is Founding Chair of Lights On Afterschool, a position he has held since 2001.

The Work-Family Connection opened in 1989 at Patrick McGaheran School with just 10 students! Since then, all with word of mouth referrals, The Work-Family Connection has served an estimated 50,000 children in more than 35 schools throughout New Jersey, including Hunterdon, Warren, Somerset, Union, and Morris counties. Providing homework assistance, mentoring, tutoring, classes and clubs in sports, recreation, mathematics, chess, cooking and dozens of other subjects, our programs provide a well-rounded service that pairs well with the school’s curriculum, for a FUN extension of the school day.
